Keeping Up With Kereru
Home learning continues in Kereru Class.
It's been another busy few weeks and Kereru kids are coping amazingly well with their learning at home. The reading, writing, maths and spelling are ticking along nicely and the students are enjoying the variety of tasks on offer to them.
We started this week with a fun Star Wars code breaking activity and coding task to celebrate Star Wars Day on May the 4th. Well done to Juliet who was the first to break the secret Aurebresh code. The force is strong in you Juliet!
Digital technology has been a big focus during home learning. The students have learnt to work on all sorts of Google platforms and we have introduced them to computer coding which has been very popular. Children don’t always know how the digital world is made, or how it works and coding teaches them that there’s information behind what they’re seeing on their screen. It also allows them to express their ideas and creativity. It's been really exciting to see some of the coding work the students have completed.
We celebrated two more birthdays in the past two weeks! Juliet and Lachie celebrated their special day and we wished them happy birthday at our regular Zoom meetings.
Finally, a big Happy Mother's Day to all of our mums out there. Enjoy your special day!
