Basketball Stars

Megan Inwood —

The St Paul's Intermediate Basketball Team did themselves proud on Monday night coming third in the final round of basketball for 2019. The boys played extremely well throughout the competition, every week playing their best and playing as a team.

Throughout the 6 years that I have coached the basketball, I have trained most of these boys from the start, and I knew this year was going to be an exciting year for the boys. Every week they turned up to practice and with their dedicated efforts they have put together a sporting comradeship.

One play that happened on Monday night, I think would have to be the best goal I have ever seen, and will probably stay that way for a long time. Reuben Scott shot a ½ court goal with seconds to go for the quarter, swinging the ball wide, with all his might, the ball went high and went straight through the ring. It was such a memorable moment, which I’m sure Ruben is still smiling about.

Sadly most of the players will be moving on to college next year, which we wish you well, and that you don’t throw away those mouth guards. This leaves a gap for the up and coming junior basketballers to join the intermediate league – watch this space!
