Winter Tournament Champs

Philippa Hood —

Against the odds the St Paul's Intermediate table tennis team are victorious!

The two day Nelson Intermediate's Winter Tournament is a competitive tournament usually dominated by the large intermediate schools taking part.  This year the 8 students making up the one table tennis team that each school was allowed to enter, took out the championship by a 2 point victory over Waimea Intermediate School.

The team pictured above consisted of Billy Powick, Charlie Powick, Ruairi Moorhead, Romeo Monopoli-Pimm, Jasmine Barney, Jaanvi Harrison , Josephine Hills and Amy Haley.

St Paul's also entered two netball teams into the Tournament.  These are the two Saturday competition teams and both faced a very tough battle in some challenging pools.  Despite  a series of losses, some of them close,  the girls remained positive and sportsmanlike finishing 4th (Year 8) and 2nd (Year 7)  in pool play respectively.  Annalise Edwards was nominated for a Fair Play award too!!
