School Closure Notice

Maureen Phillips —

Saint Paul's School will be closed tomorrow, Friday 19 August.

Dear Parents of the Saint Paul's Community,

We know that the last 24 hours have been very difficult for Nelson City residents in particular and we are thinking of those of you who have been evacuated. If you have had to leave your home and require additional support, please let us know. We recognise that a number of our staff and students are in vulnerable areas and may have difficulty getting to school tomorrow.

As stated previously we continue to liaise with neighboring schools on the Waimea Campus (due to sharing families and bus services), Ministry of Education, and Tasman Civil Defence to make an informed decision.

Due to the continued wet weather and state of emergency in our region, we have made the decision to close the school tomorrow.   Official advice is to stay off the roads and we do not want to hamper efforts while the clean-up is happening. This decision has not been made lightly and is based on the health and safety of our students and staff and in response to official advice.

  • Ministry of Education have a learning at home site that can be accessed if children would enjoy a couple of activities. Our Seniors will have school project learning they can continue with at home..

Please share this news with others. In the meantime stay safe, stay dry and look after each other.

Assuming conditions have settled, school will be operating as normal on Monday 22 August and we look forward to seeing everyone back at this time. Stay safe and stay dry.

Blessings

Maureen
