Te Kura o Kirikiri Tatangi Seatoun School —

It has been a busy couple of weeks for both our staff and students, and we are so grateful for the support of our wonderful community.

It has been a big and busy couple of weeks for both our staff and students, and we are so grateful for the support of our wonderful community. We often think about the cognitive load our students carry, and right now, our teachers are certainly feeling it too!

Last week, nine of our teachers participated in three intensive professional development days focused on Structured Literacy practices. Learning new techniques and making meaningful changes to enhance our classroom programs has been inspiring. Despite the wet weather and having unfamiliar relievers, our students adapted incredibly well — well done to them!

On Monday, 125 teachers gathered in our hall for a full day of learning about the revised math curriculum. There’s a lot to take in, and this is just the beginning of our journey in this area. We are committed to continued learning so we can provide the best possible education for our students.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended the Three-Way Conferences last week — we had nearly 100% attendance! Your involvement shows how much you value your child’s learning, which we truly appreciate. These conversations are so important, as they allow us to discuss progress in depth and set clear next steps for each child’s learning.

As we near the end of Movin’ March, we want to thank all the families who have encouraged their children to walk, bike, or scooter to school. It has been wonderful to see more students choosing active ways to travel. We hope this continues in the months ahead! Please take a moment to discuss road safety with your child and, if possible, observe their route to and from school. We have had some reports of unsafe choices, particularly children on scooters not stopping at intersections. Their safety is our top priority, and your support in reinforcing these messages is greatly appreciated.

Today, we have had our emergency supplies replaced, with last years stock donated to the Social Supermarket of City Mission.

Thank you again for your ongoing support—it truly makes a difference!
