The Readathon is well under way, and the timing of the following promotions is perfect to help you support your child on their reading journey.
Put your money where your mouth is and join your child with the Family Reading Month! Scholastic (who provide our Lucky Book Club and support our library) have launched this for the month of May. Everyone who registers receives a certificate and book voucher and a chance to win book packs. There are also some great tips about supporting reluctant readers at different stages.
Graphic Novels are very popular at our school and are of course a very acceptable and interesting form of reading! For the biggest fans young and old, there is an annual ComicFest held in Wellington and this year there is an online offering. You can register your interest here in order to be notified about events, or download the Programme to find out what might suit you.
World Language Collection
We are able to borrow books in several languages other than English, for example, Mandarin, Korean, French, and so on. We borrow these from the National Library on a term by term basis and you are able to take them home and enjoying reading to your children in your language. If you would be interested in doing this, please call in to the school library or email Wendy.firstname.lastname@example.org. If your language is not available we can request it.
