Wellington Indian Association - Community Learning Hub
The Hub provides opportunities for Indian parents, including more recent migrants, to learn more about education and schools in New Zealand. Some of the topics we are looking at include navigating NCEA and the New Zealand Curriculum, staying safe at school, mental and physical health and wellbeing, and more.
Topics will be covered across 6 sessions from 5 May to 16 June 2024 and will be presented by facilitators from within the Indian community who work locally as teachers and in other educational roles. Sessions will be proactive so there will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and talk openly with our facilitators.
All of the sessions will include programmes for children who accompany attending parents.
Above all, this is an opportunity to find out how you can actively be involved in and support your child’s journey through the New Zealand Education System.
I have attached event posters and would be most grateful if you could distribute this information to your Indian parents or as part of your regular newsletter – bearing in mind that the sessions are beginning 5 May. The online registration form can be accessed via the QR code on the poster or at the link:

As a wonderful way to start Term 2 the annual SLANZA Book Fair is on next week bringing local booksellers, librarians and schools together. Booksellers are an amazing resource for recommendations and advice to help build amazing library collections and they will have plenty of stock on hand and specials for the night. It is also a great opportunity to network with other Wellington librarians over a cup of tea and something yummy, and to be in to win great book prizes!
For more information and to register your interest head over to our website to check it out.
