From the Principal - 15 February 2024

May the Year of the Dragon bring you the courage and strength to overcome any challenge.
Chinese New Year - 2024  by Te Kura o Kirikiri Tatangi Seatoun School

We hope to welcome many of you at tomorrow evening's New Year family picnic. More information is included in the FoSS section of this newsletter.

Next Monday evening, we have our first FoSS meeting for the year. Come along and bring a friend. In the meeting you get to hear about what is happening in school and have your views listened to.

Our year 5 and 6 have enjoyed having lessons with the Pedal Ready Instructors this week.

Some Reminders

  • The key message is arrival time - not too early or late.  The perfect time to arrive is around 8.30am.  Teachers are in meetings and have other commitments before this time, and we cannot supervise learners earlier than this time.  If your child arrives after 8.45 am, they start the day 'on the back foot'!

  • Medication - If your child needs any medication at school, including antihistamines, please bring it to the office and complete a Medical Authority Form.

  • Kindo - when ordering, please ensure you have the correct class selected for your child for 2024

  • Jackets - Everyone needs to bring a jacket to school every day. We would all evacuate to the ridgeline above the school if there were a large earthquake. We may have to wait there for a considerable amount of time.

  • Name clothing - each term, we have a huge amount of lost property. Please clearly name your child's clothing (first and last name). We can not store lost property after the term; it is washed and donated to charity.

  • HERO is our essential communication tool. Please use HERO to record an absence; this considerably streamlines the office workflow in the mornings.

  • Students sign in or out. If your child needs to leave/return during the day, please sign them in/out at the Office

  • Parking- We are more fortunate than many schools regarding parking. Please respect our neighbours, do not park over driveways or down Dorset Cove, and do not park on the footpath, as this is unsafe for our children. Please use the kiss and drop for only this, not parking.
