Board of Trustees - 10 March

Board of Trustees  by Te Kura o Kirikiri Tatangi - Seatoun School

Kia ora tatou

As you are all aware it has been a challenging start to the year for students, teachers and families. The next few months will no doubt continue to be disjointed. The staff at Seatoun school continue to work hard to create a successful learning environment for our students, and students are also proving themselves to be adaptable as well. The Board continues to be impressed by the level of thought that has gone into creating a safe learning environment, including developing several continuity plans in these changing circumstances – the level of preparedness that is a real testament to the senior leadership of the school.
The changing environment has also had an impact on projects for the school – the Centenary has been cancelled now – which is a real shame but the right call in the circumstances. We’d like to thank all the members of the Centenary Committee and in particular Chair, Caroline Woon, for all their efforts - and while the centenary is not going ahead there is a rich amount of historical material that has been pulled together - a real taonga for the kura and the community.
We’ve also had to delay some property projects (some classroom modernisation and upgrade of toilets), because of supply issues and the timing of various works. We are still committed to these projects, but are having to be flexible in the current Covid impacted environment.
Finally, we know how hard the impacts of COVID-19 have been for many families in New Zealand. If you know of a family in your community who is struggling, please encourage them to reach out for support - there are some avenues available for access to food, medicine, or financial support: Help is available – COVID-19 Health Hub.

Stay safe.
