From The Principal May 26

Matariki Evening  by Te Kura o Kirikiri Tatangi - Seatoun School

Week four is quickly coming to an end and it is tremendous to see more school events and activities occurring and being planned.

MATARIKI EVENING
We are delighted to announce that we will be running our special Matariki evening at 6pm on Thursday 16th June. We are running this for your children and need your support to put this event on. We need parents / whānau to assist in the following ways both on the night and in advance. Please put your hand up to assist. Without parent support, we can not run the event.
Role 1: Liaise with City Mission (1 person)
Role 1: Coordinate pre-ordering supplies for the evening (1 or 2 people)
Role 2: Set up for event - one hour the day before and one hour before the event (one or two people)
Role 3: Serving Milo and biscuits - behind the counter in the kitchen (three or four people on the night)
We will be running this event in the internal courtyard. Whānau can enter via the main doors and walk through to the courtyard. This is an outside area, so dress warmly!
If the weather is terrible, the event will be cancelled.
Full information and sign up form for both numbers participating and support is further down in this Steeple Rock.

FoSS - Invite to help our school and make new friends
The Friends of Seatoun School (FoSS) has historically worked closely alongside the staff and BOT to fundraise and organise social events that maintain and build upon the school’s close links with its community. The school has been very fortunate to have had dedicated and committed FoSS members who have made incredible contributions to our school. Up until 2019, FoSS ran our biannual school gala which generated around $60,000 for children of Seatoun School. Each year FoSS has contributed $12,000 to the operation of our school.

The number of active FoSS members has dropped considerably over the past two years and we are keen to re-start FoSS and invite anyone interested in:
meeting new people,
hearing first hand about the school, and
having an opportunity to have your voice heard by the school
Please don’t be concerned that attending a FoSS meeting will mean you're signing up to organise or run events! Moving forward we will be asking for assistance from the entire school on an event-by-event basis, rather than thinking of FoSS as taking responsibility.

Our next meeting will be on Monday June 13th at 7pm in the school library. A glass of wine will be provided.

Dressing for the Winter Months
With the increased ventilation and the colder weather we all need to dress warmly. It is essential that every student comes to school with a warm coat.
