On Wednesday of O Week, our students took to the streets of North Dunedin to help various community groups.
A group of students went out to Anglican Care to help them wash their fleet of vehicles and building windows. Another group went to help the Maori and Pasifika Trust with some gardening help in their harakeke flax garden.
It was fortuitous that the weather was a nice mild day because we had two more groups off to do gardening for their volunteering up in the NEV (North East Valley). The larger group of about 30 went to the NEV Community Garden while the others went to the Otago Community Hospice.
Overall, it was a great day where Selwynites got a taste of the wider Dunedin community and offered help. The best news??? This is only the start. Relay for Life got another group of students involved in fundraising and doing the relay for the Cancer Society.
Watch this space, we have a feeling that Selwyn's not finished helping the community yet.
