Staff Profile: Kaiako Emma

Pre School —

We are delighted to honour a significant chapter in the story of our teaching whānau.

On 14 June, our esteemed Kaiako Emma celebrated 10 years of dedicated service with Selwyn House Pre-school. For a decade, Emma has been an integral part of our fabric, anchoring our team with her consistent dedication and insightful understanding of our learners. Her enduring bond with our tamariki speaks volumes about the passion and continuity that characterise our Selwyn House Pre-school environment.

Celebrating Emma also allows us to reflect on the immense reservoir of knowledge shared across our school. We proud to highlight the exceptional experience our team brings to the table:

  • A Legacy of Learning: Our educators boast a collective 72 years of teaching experience within the Selwyn House Pres-school and School community.

  • A Foundation of Trust: This rich background ensures a stable, encouraging environment where children can grow confidently alongside seasoned experts.

Please join us in celebrating Emma for her ten years of loyalty and care. We are profoundly grateful for the unique energy and expertise she brings to our school.

What is Selwyn House Pre-school’s point of difference?

Our Specialist programmes are a real point of difference. Creating a rich engaging learning experience for every child.

What inspires you in your role every day?

The Monkey children are glorious! They inspire me every day with their curiosity , enthusiasm and resilience. My teaching team isn’t too bad either, somewhat similar to the Brady bunch….

They inspire, through their creativity and commitment to providing the best care for our children and whānau.

Tell us one thing that few people know about you.

I have two nieces, Annabel and Harriet, who I absolutely adore, my partner JB and s’mores. In that order. Whoops, that’s three...I was never good at math.

What is special about 2026 at Selwyn House Preschool?

2026 is a wee special as it marks my 10th anniversary at Selwyn House Pre-school. It is a great opportunity to reflect on the relationships, memories, and learning experiences that have shaped my journey here.
