Launching the Selwyn House School Business Directory

Sara Webb —

We are absolutely thrilled to launch the Selwyn House School Business Directory - a dedicated space for connection, networking, and celebrating our parents and caregivers as professionals, entrepreneurs, and community leaders.

Part of launching this platform is telling the inspiring stories of the individuals behind these businesses. Rematter is just the beginning - this is the very first of many parent-owned businesses we will be featuring! We have a fantastic lineup of stories coming your way, so keep a close eye out as we regularly highlight the diverse talent across our school community.

Our inaugural feature shines a spotlight on Chang Liu, founder and director of Rematter.

Chang has always had a deep passion and vision for simplified living, wellbeing, and sustainability. For her, business isn't just about products - it's about living her values and sharing a meaningful mindset with others.

Her journey was sparked after completing a Simplified Living and Wellbeing course, which included sustainability as one of its core themes. The course encouraged Chang to think more intentionally about how we live and consume, ultimately inspiring the idea behind Rematter.

Drawing on her background in manufacturing, Chang saw firsthand how easily broken promotional items end up in landfill. But beyond that, it made her question why so many products are designed to be disposable in the first place. That broader reflection on waste, material choices, and long-term value led her to start Rematter. Today, Chang carefully sources and selects products and materials that better align with the values of sustainability, quality, and longevity - often focusing on materials that are otherwise discarded or overlooked.

As Chang puts it:

"Not all materials are equal. Some are overused. Some are wasted. Some are simply overlooked. We believe better materials lead to better products—products that people use, keep, and remember."

Equally close to Chang’s heart is the power of community connection. She fondly recalls a time when she tore a muscle and was unable to walk or drive - and how Selwyn House School parents immediately stepped in, taking turns to pick up Sammy (Year 2) every day. That spirit of practical support and genuine care is what makes our school so special.

Through the new Business Directory, we want to make it even easier for families to support one another in that exact same spirit - both personally and professionally. Stay tuned for more inspiring community stories coming soon!
