Selwyn United wins Outstanding Sports Club of the Year at Nexia New Zealand Canterbury Sports Awards

Congratulations to everyone at the club for picking up Outstanding Sports Club of the Year (shared with Old Boys Collegians Cricket club) at the Nexia New Zealand Canterbury Sports Awards. 

A big thank you goes to Gerard de Rooy (who was also nominated as club administrator of the year), the board and all our volunteers who have put countless hours into the club over the last few years. Our club is built on the goodwill and commitment of many volunteers without whom we would not function. These people make sports clubs in this country, often with little thanks for what they do. It is nice that in this case, that work has not gone unrecognised. A great team effort.

The criteria for deciding this award goes well beyond sporting performance, into club administration and leadership, planning and finance, community engagement, coach education etc. We are five years young with so much more to improve and develop. Onwards and upwards from here
