Christchurch YMCA opens new 24/7 technology centre for youth

4C Centre —

Christchurch youth not in education, employment or training will now have access to a brand new technology centre offering them a space they can call their own.

The 4C centre, which can be found inside the YMCA building on Hereford St, was officially opened by minister for youth Peeni Henare in December 2018.

Christchurch YMCA chief executive Josie Ogden Schroeder said the centre was set up "by the kids for the kids".

"I want it to be a place that's set up and run by the kids. They will be the gatekeepers."

The centre will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week for youth aged between 15 and 24. A core group of about 10 students have helped design the centre and setup the guidelines for membership.
