2020 Junior Cross Country
Second times the charm as the Junior Cross Country goes ahead on the saver day.
It was a beautiful afternoon sun that shone on the Northcross field on Monday 22nd June. Students from Years 0 to 3 filed down from nearby classrooms to take on the 2020 Cross Country Challenge.
For some students, this was their very first event. For our seasoned veterans in Year 3, it was their last one before entering the big leagues next year. The juniors have been working hard over the last few weeks to get running fit and were ready to give it their all. The anticipation could be felt in the air as each year group nervecitedly waited for their turn to run. (Nervecited = the feeling of being both nervous yet excited, a word that Mr Smart has recently learned from the Year 3's).
Each year group formed up at the start line and gazed out at the challenge ahead of them, a SNAP of the starting clapper and they were off! Clambering over mats, hurdling over hurdles, crawling under parachutes, shifting through shapes and descending hills towards a sprinting finish. The juniors had their work cut out for them, however they certainly took it in their stride and were absolutely awesome. Outstanding running took place with so many students putting in a huge amount of effort. Congratulations to everyone that took part, they should all be very proud of themselves!

Thank you Northcross Intermediate who very kindly let us use their grounds. It was fantastic to see some of our ex-Sherwood students helping out with the course during the set up phase, they were very eager to come support the runners but unfortunately had to head back to class. Thank you to all the awesome Year 6 PE leaders who helped set up the course, encouraged the juniors and assisted with the clean up, you are all amazing. Thank you to the Junior Staff who helped out on the course and cheered on all the runners. And of course thank you to all the siblings, parents, grandparents and caregivers who came along to support the students.
