We have Kauri Trees growing at Sherwood!
A massive thank you to Hibiscus and Bays Local Board our local sponsor, as well as Te Whangai Trust for supplying these trees from their nursery. Also, thank you to Paper4trees for organising and supporting paper recycling in our school.
It is through all our collective efforts in recycling all paper and cardboard through the paper4trees programme that we are fortunate enough to receive these trees.
This year we were extremely lucky and secured 9 Kauri tree and 10 Harakeke flax plants. These Kauri trees have been planted at the back on the bike track with help from our Enviro leaders and friends last week.
Some of our Year 1 Kauri team children have been kaitiaki and caring for the trees by watering them using their recycled milk bottles they collaboratively decorated in art class for conservation week.
We look forward to watching these rākau (trees) grow over the years. Thank you Mr Williams for your support and making a border and mulching these trees to protect them as they grow.
