Last week three Sherwood teams competed at the annual Junior Mathex competition at Northcross Intermediate.

This is an event where teams of four students work together to solve a set of very difficult maths problems, racing against the clock and other teams

The teams were made up of mainly Year 6 students with a few Year 5s. 

There were 55 teams (up from 46 last year) so the competition was fierce. All of our teams achieved good scores. Although we didn't make it into the top three this time, one team managed to grab an equal 6th placing. Not only is it a lot of fun, Junior Mathex is great preparation for the Mathex competitions that students can be part of when they move onto intermediate and secondary school.
