Past and Present/Then & Now

Kauri and Matai Teams each spent a day at the Howick Historical Village to learn about colonial times in Howick.  We travelled by bus and spent the day learning about how the early settlers would have lived, as they went about their daily activities.  Everyone had a go at churning butter by hand, dressed up in clothes that children and adults wore in the early 1900s and visited the old schoolhouse and saw how school was conducted in the past.  We enjoyed playing simple games involving a piece of string and a washer.   Howick Historical Village is a lovely place to visit and is open to the public as well.
