Arrival At School Time

Carolyn Crow —

We would like to draw your attention to our expectations around students arriving at school.

Our school information book (which you should have received on enrolment) has a section which outlines this:

The school grounds officially open at 8:30am. A student can arrive before 8:30am if an adult caregiver is supervising them (e.g. someone 14 years or older).

Students who arrive slightly before 8:30am must wait in the foyer by the school reception/office until the road patrollers go out at 8:30am.

Students who need to arrive before 8:15am should be formally supervised as part of the Before and After School Care (BASC) programme, tel 09 476 2594 to enquire about spaces. There is a charge for this service.

Now we are into Week 3 of the term, families should have formalised their routines around school drop-off. We have noted some students arriving very early on a regular basis. We will begin sending these students to BASC for supervision and you may be charged.

If you have difficulty with coordinating drop-off may we suggest the Walking School Bus or the new Drop and Walk Ticket - fun ways that get students active and walking and not at school too early. There is an article on these in this newsletter.
