Lockdown Drill

Sherwood School —

Lockdown Drill Practice on Tuesday 13 September

We have recently updated our Emergency Planning and Procedures as part of our regular cycle of self review. This includes our Lockdown Procedures, which involves our staff and students remaining in their classrooms, locking windows & doors, and quietly sitting away from the windows.

There are a number of situations when a lockdown may be initiated, including:

  • Chemical spill
  • Electrical storm, high winds, tornado
  • Volcanic eruption
  • Dangerous animal
  • Armed or violent intruder

In the event of a real lockdown, you will receive the following announcement via Seesaw - The school is currently in a state of lockdown. Please do not come to school. We will update you via Seesaw and post a notification when the lockdown is over.

When practicing our lockdown drill, we will be careful with the words we use and the manner we conduct the drill, so we don't cause our students to be overly anxious. It is important, however, we do practice going into lockdown so that we can keep our students safe by being well prepared for any situation that may arise in the future.
