Public Health Advice and Guidance
How we are adhering to the guidance...
Although primary schools have been announced as having their students back part-time, we have the flexibility to have our students back full-time at school if we adhere to the public health guidance as follows:
Groups of students will be kept separate from each other
We will stagger times for students arriving at school, leaving school, and when they have their break times. Refer to more information in this newsletter.
Each team of students and staff will maintain their own bubble from other teams of students and staff.
Year 4, 5 & 6 students and all staff will wear a mask indoors at school
All Year 4, 5 & 6 students will be required to bring a mask from home and wear it when indoors at school. All staff are also required to wear a mask indoors.
Masks will be provided to any Year 4, 5 & 6 students and staff who require one.
Good hygiene practices will be used by students and staff
Hand sanitiser will be used when entering a classroom
Students and staff will use hand sanitiser as they leave the class before eating
All classrooms should be well ventilated
All classrooms will be as ventilated as possible, with doors and windows open.
Ceiling fans will be used at low speed only and in the reverse-flow direction (so that air is pulled up toward the ceiling)
Students will be asked to wear warm clothes on cool mornings/days.
Occupancy rates in classrooms should be lower than normal
We anticipate a good percentage of families will keep their children at home. This will create more space between students at school.
The Year 3 and Year 5/6 learning spaces with three classes will be reduced to two classes by moving one class out to the ESOL Room (Pohutukawa - Martin) and to the Tech Room (Rata - Purdon).
Strict measures will be put in place for parents and visitors.
Parents are asked not to congregate or come into the school grounds unless necessary, and certainly not to enter classrooms unless absolutely necessary e.g. the new starters.
A pick up zone will operate from the left side (looking at the school) car park so Year 2-6 parents can distance from each other.
If parents do come on site to drop off or pick up their children, they will be directed to an outside route to the classroom rather than through the foyer.
Kauri (Year 0/1) parents are encouraged to enter and depart the school grounds from the Montclair Rise walkway.
During the school day, any visitors coming onsite will be required to enter the grounds through the front door, scan and sanitise, before signing in on the VisTab at reception.
Staff should have had at least their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine and have returned a negative COVID-19 test before returning on site.
100% of all Sherwood staff will be double-vaxxed before Wednesday!!!
Staff will be getting a Covid-19 test and using the priority code for results.
Out of school activities are high risk and should be avoided
Before and after school activities will not operate during this time.
BASC will not operate unless notified otherwise.
