Mini-Gala Tomorrow

Carolyn Crow —

We will be holding a Mini-Gala for our students from 12 noon until 3 pm tomorrow, Friday 20th March.

We will have a sausage sizzle and drinks available for $2 each and ice blocks for $1. There will be a variety of gala games for the children to play, with the chance to win prizes, for $1- $2 per game. They can make a badge for $2. The fabulous Fill-a-Jars will also be sold for $3 per jar.

Please send your child to school with gold coins, in a small wallet or plastic bag, named is helpful.

Cash only please, no EFTPOS will be available.

To add to the festive feel of the day, students may wear mufti if they wish.

One parent has queried as to why we are holding this event and what health and safety measures are being put in place and so we outline these below:

The SPA committee had a large number of games planned for the students to participate in at the Gala along with prizes for these. With the cancellation of the Gala, we decided that running these games for the students within the school day would give them a great deal of fun, something that might be especially needed in what is a very anxious and uncertain time for families.

  • The running of these games will involve no more gathering of students or contact with each other than they might experience in the regular classroom and playground. In fact, the planning we have put in place will restrict their movements more than might occur in the playground. The students will be divided up according to their year group, and the games divided into zones with the students rotating between the zones under the supervision of their teachers.
  • None of the invited parent helpers at the event have been overseas recently, nor have had close contact with others who have.
  • The fill-a-jar contents are wrapped lollies only and the jars have been extensively checked by the committee members as they arrived.
  • The Zorb activity has been canceled.
  • All food helpers will wear gloves, students will pay their money and have their hands sanitised before taking their food.
