Our Year 4, 5 and 6 students tackled this year's Cross Country Challenge!

Friday 9th June saw our annual Senior Cross Country event take place at Freyberg Park. Despite some atrocious weather leading up to the day, the sun came out to play creating beautiful running conditions. 

Students in Years 4 to 6 have been working hard this term developing their aerobic fitness for running long distances. With a few tips and tricks up their sleeves, it was time to take on the challenge. 

This year's course had a few changes to previous years and to much of the students enjoyment...it was slightly shorter! The rainy season has turned many parts of the course into mud baths. Which normally would be great fun to run through, however, the council asked us to avoid these areas where possible. With new boardwalks in place, the course had a slightly less intimidating feel about it. But enough about the conditions, how about those students that participated!...

Congratulations to everyone that participated in the event, you put in an awesome effort and should be proud of yourselves. For some, it was a lovely nature walk taking in the sights, sounds and smells. For others, it was a chance to complete the course as fast as they could. It was wonderful to see everyone out and about enjoying the sun whilst being physically active.

A BIG thank you to the teachers, staff & students that assisted on the day. A special thank you to our Year 6 PE Ambassadors who helped set up and pack down the event.
