Stay at home or go to school...

Jeff Johnstone —

You have two options to choose from...

The government has announced we can have students back on-site from Wednesday 17 November. The main purpose is to support student wellbeing by getting students back to a more normal existence and enable them to readily engage with their friends and teachers.

We respect your right as parents to make the best decision for your family as to whether your children return to school on Wednesday or not. You have two options:

  • Learning at home

    • The current distance learning programme will cease. Instead parents who choose for their children to stay at home will be able to pick up a home pack of hard copy activities each Tuesday from outside the front of the school, starting this Tuesday 16 November.

    • In addition to the activity sheets, the home packs will include parent guidelines and a list of digital learning links.

    • Students at home will be invited to an optional daily zoom meeting by their teacher to connect with their classmates also at home or at school.

    • If you choose for your child to learn from home, it is important you complete this online form before Monday - please click here. This is important so that:

      • We know your child is safe at home when we take the attendance each day.

      • We ensure we have enough home packs for those who need one.

  • Learning at school

    • Children can attend school every day.

    • There will be staggered start and end times, as well as break times for different year groups - see attached.

    • Year 4, 5 & 6 students will be required to wear a mask indoors. Parents are asked to supply a suitable mask for your child to bring from home.

    • Learning will be a little bit different to start with, with an emphasis on reconnecting your child with their classmates and teachers.

    • Phys. Ed and Music lessons will be held outside when weather permits. ESOL lessons for the rest of the year have been cancelled.

    • Please carefully read the rest of this newsletter to ensure you are fully informed about your child coming back to school on Wednesday.

    • You do not need to notify us before your child returns to school on Wednesday.
