Primary Schools Rugby Festival - Round 1
Sherwood's Rippa Teams Tackle the 1st Round
On Thursday 8th June, our Year 3 to 6 Rippa Rugby teams travelled to East Coast Bays Rugby Club to participate in the 2023 Primary Schools Rugby Festival. This festival brings schools from the East Coast Bays area together for a day of rugby fun.
Conditions couldn't have been better, with many of us forgetting what a sunny day was like! This year we have four teams entered into the festival. Two from Year 3 & 4 and two from Year 5 & 6. For some, it was their first experience of this type of event. For our other seasoned veterans, it was an opportunity to lead by example.
It was great day of rugby and interacting with schools from around the bays. It was awesome to have the help of Long Bay College students who coached and looked after our teams on the day. They brought their experience and leadership to ensure our students had a positive day. We look forward to working with them again in Round 2.
Congratulations to all players that attended. You demonstrated some outstanding skills, teamwork and in particular your positive attitude on and off the field which was noticed by Harbour Rugby.
During this round of the festival, North Harbour Rugby awarded one school student a Fair Play Award who received a $50 Prezzy card and certificate. Congratulations to Murray Bowles from Year 6 who won this award! And, most generously, the proceeds from the Harcourts Cooper & Co "Coffee & Cone" food truck sales go to the school of the student who wins the Fair Play award for that day for their school to purchase sports equipment. So looks like Sherwood is going to get some new gear!
Well done again players!
A special thank you to the parents who helped out on the day and our Long Bay College helpers.
We look forward to doing it all again in Term 3!
