New School Counsellor

Maria Bound-Gussey —

We are pleased to announce a new school counsellor service.

This service will be available at Sherwood School every fortnight starting from Week 2, on Tuesday 11th February from 9.00 am -12.30 pm. Lynne Hargie is a primary trained teacher who has a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling. Lynne is an experienced counsellor with a sound knowledge of the various counselling approaches for school-aged students.

Counselling sessions provide a nurturing environment for personal growth. The sessions are designed to assist students who are struggling or are unable to cope with the demands of life and require support with social development.

The approach to counselling sessions is flexible, interactive and student centred which allows the needs of individual students to be met. Students can also attend group counselling sessions if the need is similar, for example support with understanding and building resilience.

Students can be referred to the counselling service either by their parents, a teacher or management staff. A referral form can be filled out with parent or caregiver consent. If you would like to discuss the counselling service in more detail please ask for Maria Bound-Gussey at the office. Maria will be happy to consult with you about the service and the referral process.
