Nature Play at Sherwood School

Karla Anderson —

Playing outdoors and being in nature provides children opportunities to develop physically, cognitively, socially and emotionally.

Being outside and playing in the fresh air has many benefits. I spotted this group of girls playing together, they were being creative, made patterns, groups and a game with the nature materials that they had foraged for. It is great to see the children connecting with nature, using their imaginations, experimenting with their ideas and developing some mathematical concepts when sorting. We hope now that Spring is upon us we will see more flowers appear creating interest in and around the plants growing.
