Browns Bay Christmas Parade

Sue Martin —

Please find attached, details of the Browns Bay Christmas Parade which gives details of our 10 lucky winners who have won a ride on our Whoville float.

Hi Everyone!

The Browns Bay Christmas Parade is on Saturday 7 December, just two short weeks away! Hooray! The parade will go ahead rain (like last year) or shine (fingers crossed!) – there is no saver date.

For those taking part in the parade with Sherwood School, please carefully read the details below (from the health & safety fairy) if you’d like to join the fun…

• Parade floats assemble and leave from Glen Road. Please assemble @ 4.30pm (parade leaves @ 5.00pm). Just look for the Sherwood Whoville/Grinch House on the blue truck.

• Sherwood kids who won a spot riding on the float - please wear a bright coloured t-shirt. Think bright red, pink, purple, orange, yellow or green. We’ll give you a festive headband when you arrive at the truck.

• Sherwood kids walking behind the float – please wear your Sherwood School PE Top if you have one – then go all out with your Christmas accessories – Santa hats, reindeer headbands, Christmas face paint, tinsel – the fancier the better!

• No water pistols please but bubble wands are very welcome.

• Parents! We need your help! We need adult walkers to accompany the float to ensure our kids are kept safe. All children 6 years and under MUST walk with an adult or a supervised group. Pre-schooler siblings are welcome but MUST walk with an adult. All walkers must stay well behind the truck as it can often stop without warning.

• This event is ‘Your Child, Your Responsibility’. If you are not walking with your child, they must understand that they are to stay with the truck at the end of the parade until you collect them. While we will attempt to keep all of the kids with us at the end of the parade, please note that parents are responsible for the whereabouts of their children.

• The parade ends along Anzac Road. The float will then make its way back to the Plunket building and where the children are to be collected promptly from the float at the end of the parade. Children must be collected within 30 minutes of the end of the parade.

• All children must have their parent/caregivers mobile number written up their arm (we also have a pen with us on the day for this.)

• There will be a bottle bin on the truck for water bottles. Please sunscreen your children before you come down, we will have sunscreen and a first aid kit available on the truck if needed

• Please ensure your children have gone to the toilet before the parade starts!

Phew! That’s about it! So whilst we are putting the finishing touches on our bright and colourful Whoville house, start thinking about what fun ways you & your kids can accessorise on the day. Let’s make Sherwood the most energetic, enthusiastic & Christmasy float ever!
