Last week four teams of senior students represented Sherwood at Junior Mathex.
This is an event where teams of four students work together to solve a set of very difficult maths problems, racing against the clock and other teams. The Sherwood teams trained with Mrs Crow ahead of the competition and were confident they could meet the challenge. Thanks to Ms Lim for taking them across to Northcross on the day to compete.
There were 50 teams so the competition was fierce. All of our teams achieved good scores. Although we didn't make it into the top three this time, one team (pictured above) managed to grab a 6th placing by completing all 20 questions correctly within the time limit.
Not only is it a lot of fun, but Junior Mathex is also great preparation for the Mathex competitions that students can be part of when they move on to intermediate and secondary school.
We appreciate our neighbouring school, Northcross Intermediate organising this event for our students.
