Sherwood School — August 13, 2024
No books were thrown in this event...
Last Wednesday, twelve of our Year 6 students competed in the Book Battle student literature quiz at Northcross Intermediate. It was the first time Sherwood has competed, so everyone was very excited and a little nervous.
The teams started preparation at the beginning of Term 2 with weekly training sessions. There were six books required reading, which covered three rounds in the final competition. They also spent a lot of time covering general knowledge across a whole range of children's books, so they went ready to brave the four mystery rounds.
On the competitoin day, there were seven rounds with ten questions in each. Our teams all did an amazing job, and while not in the top three, their scores were very close to those of the winning teams. Our Sherwood students worked together well, showing a great attitude and friendly teamwork.
Several of our students won spot prizes so we came back feeling very pleased with our outing. Stand by Year 5 students, next year it could be your turn!
