Year 2 Matai Team:
Jolandie Bothma (Matai B teacher, Team Leader)
Hello! My name is Jolandie Bothma, and I’m excited to be the Team Leader for Year Two this year. I’ve been teaching for 16 years and have had the opportunity to work in South Africa, London, and New Zealand. I’ve taught students of all ages, from Year 0 through to Year 8, but my true passion is working with younger students, especially those in Year 0 to Year 2. I absolutely love teaching reading, writing, maths, and art, and I’m really looking forward to seeing all the amazing things we will create together this year.
I live locally with my husband, three daughters, and two dogs. When I’m not at school, I enjoy spending time outdoors, swimming, hiking, and playing sports.
Sally da Cruz (Matai D teacher)
My name is Sally Machado da Cruz, and I was born and raised in South Africa. In 1998, I immigrated and had the privilege of living in several countries, including the Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar, before ultimately settling in New Zealand in 2016.
I was a stay-at-home mother until my children completed their schooling. Following this, I pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor of Primary Education. This marks my second year as a teacher, and I am deeply passionate about my profession.
Eva Li (Matai L teacher)
I’m Eva Li, and I’m thrilled to be joining the Sherwood School Matai team this year. I live in Schnapper Rock with my husband, Jim, and our two sons, Wang Xuan and Min Xuan, who are both attending Middle School on the North Shore this year.
With 15 years of experience in preschool teaching and 6 years at the primary level, I’m excited to bring my passion for education to Sherwood Primary. My goal is to create a safe and inclusive space for all students to achieve their best. I’m also looking forward to getting to know you and your whānau throughout the year!
