Last week it was Conservation Week. As part of our learning, there were activities for all students to get involved in.
There were lots of interactive hands-on activities set up in the foyer. Mrs Huysamen had new and exciting things everyday including puzzles, art and sensory trays with insects to discover.
Our focus areas were, looking at our beautiful sea creatures, native birds and insects. Our taking action was to pick up rubbish around our school.
At the end of the week we did a rubbish audit and sorted it all into paper recycling, plastic recycling, compost and rubbish.
We also checked our potato pots and harvested snap peas to eat.
On Friday, the Kauri Team planted two beautiful kōwhai trees in our Māra Kai to attract native birds like tuī to our school. All the students showed aroha by helping to add soil around the trees as we planted them.
Thank you to everyone who took action and promoted learning for Conservation Week - you are amazing!
