Sherwood's Year 5 & 6 badminton team take on the team challenge
Due to the floods earlier in the year, Badminton North Harbour's facility was out of action. So this year's event took place at Active Badminton in Apollo with the action spread over two days, Section 1 on Monday 14th August and Section 2 on Tuesday 15th August.
The competition format allowed for plenty of badminton to be played. Each school the team played consisted of 4 singles and 2 doubles matches with the aim of accumulating as many points as possible from winning games.
Competition was fierce this year with our teams facing quality opponents from across a range of North Harbour schools. The speed and power with which our players moved around the court was inspiring. Combined with the accuracy of their shots, Sherwood gave their opposition plenty of challenge. For some of our players, it was their first taste of competitive badminton. You could see the experience gained and the improvement made in every game they played. Congratulations to all players, you should be proud of your efforts and the way you conducted yourself on and off the court!
Section 1 Team:
3rd Place
Section 2 Team:
8th place (out of 16 teams!)
