Big Idea:
We need to care for plant life because it is a life-sustaining resource.
Lines of Inquiry:
Plants are living things and we need to care for them.
What is the life cycle of plants and what are their parts?
Living things depend on each other.
Literacy -
Reading: BSLA programme (Better Start Literacy Approach)
Writing: Inquiry writing and recording spellings based on the words in their BSLA reading book.
Handwriting: Casey Caterpillar
Oral Language: Weekly news sharing and inquiry discussions. – speaking and listening skills/questioning.
Library Day: Friday
Maths -
Number: Number recognition depending on your child’s level. Addition and subtraction with or without materials.
Other Strands:
Geometry - Shape and Position.
Measurement - Length
PE (Monday and Thursday rotation)
Focus: Fit for Life and Large Ball Skills - Modified ball activities

Participate in creative and regular physical activities and identify enjoyable experiences.
Participate in a range of games and activities and identify the factors that make participation safe and enjoyable.
Identify and discuss obvious hazards in their home, school, and local environment and adopt simple safety practices.

Music (Monday and Thursday rotation)
Focus: Exploring Music within the cultures of the classes to enrich Whakawhanaungatanga amongst the children (i.e. relating well to each other) e.g. Path of the Wind, Iko Iko, Ruru

Focus: Exploring the art element, colour through looking at the colour wheel and experimenting with colour mixing. Introducing shape and form with drawing and sculpture.
