A warm welcome back to school.
We are looking forward to starting back for Term 3. We hope you’ve all enjoyed the break and the students feel rested and refreshed for the term ahead. This term, we welcome Miss Underwood who will be teaching our Year 0 class, Kauri U. We welcome the following new students: Amy, Annabella, Isabella, Amaya, Isaac, Liam, Quentin, Lydia, Xin Lan and Boris at the start of the term, with more children due to arrive in Week 6. If you see them around, please say hello and encourage them to join in the play.
Year 1 Kauri Team:
Mrs Nicky Hall (Team Leader, Kauri NH)
Mrs Anderson (Kauri A)
Mrs Brown (Kauri B)
Mrs Huysamen (Kauri H)
Miss Underwood (Kauri U)
Sam (Learning Assistant)
Jane (Learning Assistant)
This term, our Year 1 students will be exploring the curriculum area of Dance. They will be observing different types of dance, learning some themselves and getting creative with their own movements. Our Year 0 students will be learning all about themselves through a unit called ‘Me and My Family’.
We don’t have any trips this term but we do have plenty going on. The Year 1 classes will be going swimming at the Millennium Centre at the end of the term. We will need helpers for these sessions, so if you are available, please let your child’s class teacher know. Please note that your child will be grouped according to ability and will be with a trained instructor - more details to follow.
We also have the NZ Playhouse visiting who will be performing ‘The Reluctant Dragon’ for the children. Last year’s performance was heaps of fun!
We’re looking forward to meeting you all again at our mid-year parent/teacher conferences. If you haven’t booked in for these yet, please check the 'Sharing our learning' article in this newsletter for details.
Regards
Kauri Teachers
