Sherwood’s exciting new programme launching in 2025

Our Year 3 students will be involved in Garden to Table in 2025.

Garden to Table is:

• An exciting, integrated and comprehensive programme that helps children understand how to grow, harvest, prepare and share good food

• It builds skills for life through highly practical, curriculum-integrated and child-centric classes teaching gardening and cooking skills

• Provides NZ Curriculum-linked activities that allow authentic integration of Garden to Table into classroom-based learning

• Builds awareness of responsibility for the environment, conscious eating and community connectedness

Volunteers are an integral part of the Garden to Table Programme. They work closely with small groups of children to answer questions, encourage, monitor and oversee activities, while keeping the children on track with tasks.

Volunteers can be anyone from within our school or local community who are keen to contribute their time and enthusiasm including parents, caregivers, grandparents, aunts or uncles. No special skills are needed, other than an interest in Garden to Table, and an enjoyment from working with children.
