Today we began our Matariki celebrations officially, beginning with a visit from our special friends from Ngā Tama o Ōruapaeroa. 

Our tamariki showed manaakitanga as we welcomed our guests in with a mihi whakatau, with each of us sharing some waiata and gifts. We enjoyed a play together, with our friends proudly showing the boys our play space, and created a beautiful collaborative art piece together. 

Matariki is a time for coming together, for sharing time and engaging with one another as we reflect on the year that has been and look forward into the year ahead. This was a perfect way to start off our Matariki in 2023, ngā mihi nui e hoa mā Shirley Boys' High School
