Shirley Boys’ High School Prime Minister’s Vocational Excellence Award 2022 winner announced

LCM —

Launched in 2019, the purpose of this award is to celebrate the achievement of secondary students enrolled in vocational programmes, and to raise the status of vocational education. The award rewards the top Year 12 or 13 secondary student enrolled in vocational programmes of learning with a $2,000 monetary prize. This year’s recipient, Zane Roberts has a love for cooking. Through the ARA Dual Enrolment Programme, the Shirley Boys’ High School Culinary Studies course and his involvement in Gateway, he has realised his passion to work and train as a chef. Zane has recently commenced work experience at Flax Bar and Eatery. Chris Fortunum, head chef at the restaurant, had the following to say about him, “Zane has displayed a strong passion for food and cooking. He is confident in completing any task in our full-sized kitchen. Zane has taken steps to improve his skill set in the kitchen and has always had a strong work ethic. He is always punctual, professional and shows great potential in the team here at our busy bar and eatery.” We wish Zane all the very best for his chef training and what promises to be a very successful career.
