The Weekly Report

The Weekly Report will continue across all year levels in 2016 as a way of promoting regular home/school communication while making the students more accountable for their academic progress.

The report focuses on the student’s attitude, ability to complete their course work and their attendance.

For those who have registered their email addresses with the school, this report will be sent electronically each Friday starting 20 February. Others will receive a paper copy in the post every fortnight. For those students in Years 9 and 10, the Weekly Report will be used to generate their Graduation mark at the end of each term.

Staff Car Park

Boys are not to be dropped off in the staff car park. This area is out of bounds to students. Please make use of the 5-minute drop off zone on North Parade.

School Policy on Cell phones

If a cell phone needs to be brought to school, it must be switched OFF and in the student’s bag during class times. It is permitted to be used at interval and lunchtime.

As with many other schools, this policy has been put in place to help maintain a safe and productive learning environment. Specifically, it is to reduce incidents of text bullying, cell phone theft, and disruption in class caused by the use of cell phones. This policy has been explained to students in our assemblies and daily notices on a number of occasions.

If necessary, an urgent message may be given to the Deans’ Office, or the receptionist, to pass on to the student. This service has always been available. The students have access to a student phone during interval and lunchtime. In an emergency, the school will contact the parents using the contact details you have provided.

In the event of confiscation:

1st time: Name taken and phone held at the Deans’ Office until the end of the school day, when it may be collected by the student. No punishment will be given.

2nd time: Name taken and phone held at the Deans’ Office until the end of the school day, when it may be collected by the student. An After-school Detention will be issued.

3rd time: Name taken and phone held at the Deans’ Office until the end of the school day, when it may be collected by the parent. An After-school Detention will be issued.

4th time: Name taken and phone held at the Deans’ Office until the end of the school day, when it may be collected by the parent. Two After-school Detentions will be issued.

5th time: Name taken and phone held at the Deans’ Office until the end of the school day, when it may be collected by the parent. Four After-school Detentions will be issued.

To avoid the possibility of the above issues arising, it is our recommendation that students do not bring cell phones to school.
