In the second week of the April school holidays, 16 boys travelled south to Timaru to compete in the South Island ANZAC Hockey Tournament.

Seven teams from throughout the South Island and Auckland attended all teams playing five  games over the three-day Tournament. This  has been running for five years and is used by teams to expose new members of their 1st XI to the demands of competing in a multi-day, hockey tournament, and to allow coaches to work on team combinations for the coming season.

The highlight was playing Auckland Grammar. It has been over 20 years since the two schools met. Miss Nesbit was manager of the 1st XI the last time these two teams played  each other.

The team also attended the ANZAC service held in the sound-shell at Caroline Bay on the morning of ANZAC day.

The skill level of the players improved over the three days and is an important preseason tournament prior to 1st XI playing in the SPL Friday night hockey competition.
