The JWOC terrain looks fascinating with extensive rock formations for the middle & relay, and old village for the sprint.

Here are a couple of photos of him running at the warm up event (youth comp) in Hungary. He had to cope with jet lag and severe heat (40c) some days! Seems to be having a great time so far.
