Year 9 Social Studies Literacy Challenge

Michael Skinner —

During Term 3, each Year 9 Social Studies student has been challenged to improve their literacy skills – particularly their reading.

This challenge has been broken up into 20 smaller, individual tasks, which are mostly to be completed outside of regular class time. After a student has completed 5 tasks, they earn a prize. These prizes have been supplied by Ms Johnson, SBHS’s Literay Kahui Ako. Those students who complete all 20 challenges will go in the draw for 3x prizes of $25 canteen vouchers.

It would great if you could encourage your Year 9’s to continue this at home. A large of students, at the time of writing, have already completed 10 tasks. Ask your Year 9, at home, what challenge they are up to?
