Shirley Man returns

M Skinner —

Year 13 Geography students recently hosted 1971 Shirley Man, Neil McLennan. Neil came back to school to impart his knowledge to Mr Skinner’s and Mr Howell’s Geography classes, about the upcoming Lyttelton Port Company $1 billion dollar redevelopment. Neil has been at Lyttelton Port Company for the past 43 years. And his current role at the port is Engineering Services Manager.

He kindly offered to come and speak at his old school to impart his knowledge about this fascinating redevelopment at the Port. All students commented how valuable his presentation had been to their current work about Coastlines and that his information would be particularly useful in their assessment work about human modification of the coastal environment.

Neil is also the father to ex-SBHS student Bryn McLennan, one of Mr Howells’ basketballers in years gone by, who is now working in Commerce in Wellington.
