Leanne Russ —

The new year of 2017 has started well. Shirley welcomes five full time students from abroad from Day One.

Louis Moskovtchenko is from the south of France and with us for six months on an AFS scholarship. Louis is a keen sportsmen and eager to get involved in school life.

Pete Jungthongdee is from Thailand. Pete is outgoing and has a good level of spoken English as he has been in NZ for three years before joining us at Shirley. Pete has a wide range of interests and hopes to study at a New Zealand University in the future.

Koki Osada comes to us from Toho High School, our sister school in Nagoya Japan. Koki visited us in August last year on the short term visited. We are thrilled that he wanted to come back. Koki enjoys playing tennis.

Keigo Kawahara is from Ikubunkan Global High School. He is the second student to come to us from this outstanding school in Tokyo. Last year we welcomed Makoto Niino. Keigo is very excited to experience the New Zealand outdoors. He has joined the outdoor education class and is looking forward to new experiences.

Yusuke Nishiie comes from Tachibana Gakuen in Kanagawa Japan. Yusuke is a keen musician who plays the drums and the piano. He is looking forward to working with our Music Department.

Our International boys have been welcomed and supported by wonderful host families and we thank them greatly for their hospitality. Thanks too, to our Shirley men who go out of their way to make these guys feel welcome and part of the Shirley family. We hope that these boys make life long connections that help them develop and also help our Shirley men gain a deeper international understanding .

We have enjoyed hosting Munchang High School group from Korea and we have several students who will be joining us from Japan and Thailand as the term progresses.

Any families interested in joining our homestay data base can contact Leanne Russ, International Administrator on lor@shirley.school.nz
