Our social action campaign was about lowering the prices of public on street parking within the CBD of Christchurch. We did this in order to help benefit everyone in the CBD, including workers, small businesses, and people visiting for leisure. Our campaign took place over a period of 3 months where we tackled the issue of reducing the price of parking. This process involved us making many trips into town to put posters as seen below up to get resident and citizens thoughts and signatures for our petition. While we have not made an impact or change as of now the council and local boards have taken into consideration the negative impact that the extreme prices are having on the community and seek to bring the issue up in future council adjustment meetings. Councilor Jake McLellan has been our council contact throughout our campaign and thoroughly reckons with the right consideration and effort that has been dedicated to this topic, there will be changes made in the long term plan of Christchurch.
