Last month we said good bye to Chris Ryan.  Chris and his new wife are starting a new chapter in their lives by moving to Qatar. Chris will be missed by students and staff at Shirley BHS but we wish him well in his travels.

We also said farewell to Peter Buyers and Marcella Herrera at the end of Term 2. Peter had been at Shirley BHS since 2009 but has just started a new position at the new high school in Rolleston. Marcella was with us as a long-term relieving teacher in Term 2 and has now taken a teaching position at St Bede's College. We wish them both well in their new positions. 

Matt Sharr has been granted leave for Term 3 while he and his family travel to India.

The Banks Avenue School’s 60th Anniversary was celebrated with a performance by primary school children in the Shirley BHS Assembly Hall on 29 June.

After a busy morning rehearsal, the afternoon concert was enthusiastically received by parents and participants in a hall crowded with excited primary schoolers making the most of the stage (especially the curtains), the sound system and the lighting.

Officially opened on 14 November 1956, Banks Avenue School preceded the official opening of Shirley BHS by a year.
