The following courses are available for students to study in 2024

 Design and Visual Communication 10 Dvx (Half Year)

Course Description: The Year 10 course, although only half a year, builds on skills covered in Year 9 with the emphasis aimed at extending draughting and freehand skills, neatness, accuracy and logical thinking. Because it is only for half of the year, skills used cannot be developed as thoroughly as in the full year course.

A major part of the course is problem solving using design briefs and methods used in presentation drawings.

Project work is an important aspect where understanding of the skills learned is tested by the quality of work presented.

Skills developed include: model making, including the use of computers as a design tool, graphical communication by the use of freehand sketching, and design development.

Materials Technology (Engineering) 10Tmx (Half Year)

Course Description: This course forms part of the core requirement of the Technology Curriculum with the major material being metal, but plastics, bone, leather, ceramics and glass can be incorporated into self-designed projects.

Students design individual projects from a given brief through the use of the design process.

Throughout the course students learn correct and safe use of hand tools, machine usage, knowledge of materials along with the appropriate application of the design process.

Course Description: This course forms part of the core requirement of the Technology Curriculum with the major material being wood but other materials can be incorporated into self-designed projects.
