New Shirley BHS Board of Trustee Members
Following the three-year elections in June 2019, Messrs Sam Henry, Douglas Boniface and Iaean Cranwell were welcomed onto the Board, with Mr Tony Deavoll retaining his role as Chairman. Mrs Teresa Wooding joined the Board in Term 4, 2018.
Shirley BHS Head Boy in
2008, First XV member and dragon boater while at school, and an outdoor sports
devotee, Mr Henry is presently senior litigation solicitor in the Christchurch
office of Young Hunter with a broad commercial practice specialising in
corporate law, employment disputes, health & safety and construction. He
regularly advises employers, boards, trustees and non-profit organisations.
A Shirley BHS PTA Committee member,Mr Boniface is building his own business as a Licenced Immigration Advisor, dealing with national and international clients. He also serves on the Canterbury District Health Board Oncology Department Ethics Review Committee (Lay-Patient).
Of Ngai Tahu descent, Mr Cranwell is a parent with a son at Shirley BHS and is active in local community organisations and sport having experience as a Councillor with Environment Canterbury, and is a member of the Ngai Tahu Tourism Board member and the Shirley BHS Whanau Committee.
With a son at Shirley BHS, Mrs Wooding is a programme manager for a climate change programme and believes that greater holistic skills and knowledge are important for teenagers as part of their broader educational needs.
Re-elected as the Board of Trustees Chairman, Mr Deavoll has been actively involved in the planning for the new co-located school and the direction it will take in a multi-cultural society. As Chairman of the Canterbury Branch of the New Zealand School Trustees Association, he represents that body at a national level.
