We are extremely proud to celebrate the success of our students and to congratulate them on being awarded scholarships for 2021.

Anaru Walker

Congratulations to Anaru Walker ( pictured above) who has been awarded the University of Canterbury Kaitoko Māori Scholarship and Te Uru Rākau Forestry Scholarship.

The Kaitoko Māori Scholarship recognises leadership potential, involvement in community and cultural activities, and high academic achievement amongst intending first-year akonga | students who have whakapapa Māori at Te Whare Wananga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury. Recipients have the opportunity to participate in the UC Māori leadership programme, Paihere, and a UC-sponsored general leadership programme.

As a recipient of theTe Uru Rākau Forestry Scholarship, Anaru receives $8,000 a year for four years (the length of his  Bachelor of Forestry Science degree) to help with tuition fees and living costs, and a paid internship with Te Uru Rākau (Forestry New Zealand) or another forestry employer.

Congratulations to Joshua Watson for winning a University of Otago Performance Entrance Scholarship for 2021. 

Joshua is planning on studying Physiotherapy and was also accepted into Cumberland Hall of Residence for 2021.

George Johnson

George Johnson

Congratulations to George Johnson who has won a University of Canterbury Hiranga Scholarship for 2021.

The UC Hiranga Scholarship recognises and supports top-achieving students commencing an undergraduate degree programme at the University of Canterbury. This scholarship is awarded to those who get "Excellence" endorsement at NCEA Levels 2 (or equivalent) in a New Zealand school. This is a cash scholarship of $5000

Hamish Church

Congratulations to Hamish Church who has received a University of Otago Performance Entrance Scholarship for 2021.

Hamish plans to combine his passion for Hockey and interest in Science to pursue a future career in Sports Psychology.

He was also successful in gaining acceptance into his first choice of Hall of Residence - Cumberland.

Marcus Campbell

Marcus Campbell

Congratulations to Marcus Campbell who won a University of Otago Māori Entrance Scholarship for 2021. Established by the University of Otago in 2005 to celebrate academic excellence and cultural diversity, this $10,000 scholarship is intended to encourage the progression of Māori into tertiary study. 

Marcus will study Health Science with the goal of having a career in Medicine.

Jayden Horgan

Jayden Horgan

Congratulations to Jayden Horgan who has won the University of Canterbury College of Education, Health and Human Development Pasifika Scholarship 2021 and the UC School Leaver Scholarship 2021.

He plans on studying a Bachelor of Sports Coaching, which will combine his athletic talents on the Rugby field with his passion for community and giving back to others.
